So we have been trying to toilet train my 3yo and 4 months little boy for the last week or so and I'm now thinking maybe he's not ready and to leave?

We left it so late as he's very speech delayed and where he does talk it's not much.

We done the nappy off all day approach and we have a little mini singing toilet in the living room and the big main toilet has a step and child seat for him to use in the at bathroom

So far he doesn't stay too long on either. I distract him with singing or blowing bubbles or a book or chocolate etc but he only stays a couple mins then jumps off. He then wees on the sofa or floor instead.

We have tried putting him in normal pants to see if he feels the wetness but he just wees through them

So maybe he's not ready and I should try again? Although I worry as he's approaching 3 and a half

No need to worry, one of my boys was 3 years 5 months and the other was nearly 4! They got it straight away after that but weren’t ready before

Ps two daughters cracked it before 3, every child is different

DS wasn’t ready at 3y4m but was trained for wees in three days at 3y6m. Poos took a bit longer (and we still have an occasional poo in his pants two months later) but he has almost no wee accidents. I reckon try again in a month or two. Presumably he isn’t starting school for at least another year? You have lots of time.

So is it ok to wait a month and leave him in nappies for now

Yes of course, put him back in nappies and wait a few months before trying again

Yeah, leave it for now. When they are ready, it really shouldn't take more more a few days, and it shouldn't be stressful for anyone.
