Hi! We potty trained our 28-month-old DS this weekend and for pees it has gone BRILLIANTLY. We don’t even need to ask him anymore. He knows when he needs to go, pulls down his pants, does his business, empties it into the toilet… I’m thrilled!
But. He hasn’t done a successful poo in the potty yet. He isn’t afraid of doing it - and all the advice I can find is about withholding. He isn’t withholding (if only!). He’s going twice a day. He just seems to genuinely not notice when he’s done a poo. He’ll do it in his shorts, some will roll out onto the floor, some will cling to his bum, and he’ll just keep on playing! He was the same in nappies. Unlike my DD, he never had a “poo face” and would never squat to poo. It was always blatantly obvious when she was working on something in her nappy, but with DS I couldn’t tell until I caught a whiff of the smell. Is it possible he truly doesn’t notice? Does anyone have experience of this and tips?
