Confused with the oh crap method

I’ve started potty training a bit earlier than I wanted as DD2 started to refuse nappies. It’s incredibly slow progress. We are over a week in and I’m not sure if she has figured out in advance when needs to wee. She will wee when prompted (first thing in the morning, when leaving the house and bedtime) and she did an unprompted poo in the potty today. She can’t push her trousers down and when she is wearing them I have to physically stop her from sitting in the potty and weeing with them on. What do I do now? Trousers in the house or not? She stood abd watched herself wee on her big sister toys earlier and didn’t try and stop herself and did a huge wee at the dinner table when she was naked. I’m feeling a bit lost in potty training.

How old is she? In my experience, Oh Crap is targeted at Americans who have to leave them at daycare much earlier and they seem super keen to toilet train as soon as possible. We started with Oh Crap at 2.5 years and frankly I wish I'd waited longer! It was a right fiasco. Can you try pull ups instead of nappies? There is no shame in declaring defeat and going back to nappies for a few months (despite what Oh Crap tells you).

23 months. My older girl potty trained at 25 months but it was quicker with her.

Stick her in pull ups instead of nappies. I waited until mine were nearly three, and they were done in a couple of days. I'm very lazy though, and go for the easy option.

Pull ups are nappies. I thought oh crap was nude bottom half until they get it, The Introduce knickers with a skirt or dress. Trying to do trousers or leggings is too much initially,

How’s it going? I did oh crap with my 26 month old a month or so ago. She still can’t quite manage to pull her trousers up and down reliably, I just do that for her, and we practice lots when getting changes etc. I think I also did it a bit early and with another child I would leave it a bit later - we are 5 or 6 weeks in and most wees are on the potty/toilet but she still has an accident on more than half the days. However I feel she’s ‘got it’ enough that I won’t go back to nappies. For a week in yours sounds like she’s doing fine.

Thanks @modgepodge. We are nearly two weeks in. All poo is now going in the potty completely unprompted. Wee is a bit hit and miss. She managed her trousers a few times today but I don’t think she understands what it’s feels like to need to wee or she just doesn’t care and wees on the floor or trousers.

I trained DD2 at 23 months with Oh Crap. Every time she ran to the loo/potty, I'd go after after and pull her leggings down just in time.

When we were out and about I'd have to prompt her or I'd just sit her on the travel potty when I thought she'd be due a wee.

Took about 2 weeks for it to click properly with her. Far longer than DD1 who was done and dusted in 3 days at 26 months.

Please do not put her in pull ups! What a ridiculous suggestion mentioned up thread. You've done the hard bit now and it's getting better. Stick to no nappies 👏🏼

I'd use pull ups encourage her to do poo's in the potty and work on getting her better at taking clothes on and off.
