Scared of doing a poo in the loo/ potty

My son is 3.5 years old and not yet potty trained, still in nappies all the time. I am have a pretty relaxed approach to potty training and am happy to wait until he's totally ready. I did this with my daughter and worked well, zero stress and was easy for everyone. So I am in no rush with him.

Today he was in the bath and suddenly wanted to get out. So I asked if he needed to do a poo which he did. I suggested the toilet or potty which he agreed to. So just about to get on the loo and he told me he was scared to do a poo, on talking some more he said he was scared to do a poo on the loo. I suggested the potty, but said the same. He then did do a poo in his clean nappy

I was wondering if anyone else had gone through this? Just looking for any tips experiences to approach this.

Ooh thank you. Had a chat with his nursery and they tell me he uses their loos which are mini sized, so maybe a small one would help him feel more comfortable.

Also blowing bubble helps you to go. So maybe get some bubble mixture, get him to sit on when he needs to go and have fun blowing bubbles.

He kind of is potty trained if he’s able to hold and release that well. It takes time for kids to adjust to the sensations and body position of doing poo sitting down vs standing in a nappy.
