Hello all, my 15 mo son found his potty in his wardrobe about a month ago, and since then we’ve been sitting him on it before a bath, just to get him used to it, and this week he’s started going to fetch it himself and using it for a wee at nappy change time. Tonight he did his first poo in it before his bath, again totally self-motivated.

I don’t want to rush him so I was wondering whether anyone here had advice on how to encourage him gently without putting pressure on him? I know it’s really early to be starting potty training but it is entirely child-led and he is completely unfazed and matter of fact about it all.

I'd just keep it visible and if he chooses to use it then let him. Move it downstairs during the day.

My son took off his own nappy at 18m and stood at the loo and did a wee like his older brothers. He totally watched them all big eyed and just copied. Never had to do any proper training.

His oldest brother however was a complete nightmare.
