Is he ready?

My son is 3 years 4 months, I’ve used this week off of work to try and potty train him! He knows when he needs to go, he’ll sit on the potty and then go and wee somewhere else all over my floor..! He then looks all guilty. Should I admit defeat and leave it a while longer? I thought he was “ready!”

Maybe try a reward chart? My son was around the same age and he went straight onto to the toilet too

I think the average age is 2.5 so I think he's ready. Choose a strategy and stick to it. Praise, rewards, stickers etc. work well. Took mine about a week so not necessarily a quick fix!

Thanks everyone, I’m determined to persevere with it, I’ve tried a reward chat, and I’ve just bought a toilet trainer seat with a step similar to what he has at nursery in the hope it helps! 🤞🏻🤞🏻X

At nearly 3 and a half of course he's ready. The toilet with a step in front of it and a child sized seat is a good idea. At that age he'll probably be more comfortable than he would be using a potty. Give it a week and be very consistent, lots of praise when he gets it right, no fuss when he doesn't. Don't give up, keep going. You'll probably have him sorted within a few days.

Good luck my son wouldn't tell me he needed to go for ages, or go on his own. But he could go 3-4 hours without having a wee and would go when we told him to lol
