Potty training advice

Hi,

So a little background, my DD is 3y2m and is currently in pull ups. We tried to potty train her when she was around 2y6m due to my mother saying “I had you potty trained at 18 months she should be out of nappies by now”. Long story short my daughter was no wear near ready, it was most stressful thing I had to do deal with and my daughter was crying and screaming when using the potty. So we abandoned it and thought we would try again when she was older.

Cut to present day, she will happily sit on the toilet seat with one of those seat covers for toddlers but nothing happens and as soon as the nappy goes back on she does a wee. She has started to tell us that we wees and poo poos go down the potty/toilet but we cannot get her to tell us when she does a wee or a poo and she seems happy to stay in a wet nappy (not that we leave her in it, just doesn’t seem to bother her).

We have bought her some new “big girls underwear” that has paw patrol on them, which she picked out, but just keeps saying I’m not a big girl I want to stay little.

We have tried a star chart to see if that would tempt her into trying the potty but that doesn’t seem to work but when I go to the toilet and take her with me she tells me that I get a gold star for doing a wee on the potty 😂

I don’t want to force her to start using the potty before she is ready as there have been the odd occasion where we have tried her on the toilet before bath or after a nap and she has gone and other times she gets so upset.

Does anyone have any tips on how we can encourage her or does this sound like maybe she is being stubborn or perhaps we have to go cold turkey and remove the nappies altogether and just go all in?

She is my 1st child so I have no previous experience in this and I want people to think she is the precious first born... just after some genuine advice from people that have been there.

Thanks in advanced.

She needs to hear about big girl privileges!!
Dd wanted nail varnish /ears pierced /chewing gum. I made mental notes to use these Must Haves for future reference!! Is there anything she is after? Bigger size doll's pram? Scooter? Something bigger than what she has now.... You can say ah shame you aren't bigger you could have xxx for Easter!!

@Snowymcsnowsony

I will have to start making a mental note of things she wants or places to go and try and use these...

I totally recommend the three day potty training guide, it was very helpful! Here is a link to access it. bit.ly/2O4dEoN

I'm having similar issues with my near 3 year old, for a couple of days he's quite happy to use the toilet/potty then after that flat out refuses, and has a melt down anytime you put him near a toilet/potty and when I've taken away the pull ups and put him into knickers he still won't use the potty and just holds it in for hours and hours until he has an accident
