Fine at home, not so great out and about

Hi all, I've been potty training my 3 year old son for 3 weeks now and he's great at home and nursery. An accident every now and then but he's even happy pooing in the potty now. My only issue is when we go for a walk or to the park. He lets me know he needs a wee at the last possible moment and wees himself before I can do anything. Any advice on this? Should I be asking if he needs a wee more /making him try if we're out for a while? And then how do I get him to do it?! I know that sounds silly but pulling his pants down and letting him give it a go seems like it could be disastrous with pee all over himself. Advice on techniques would be much appreciated! X

Do you take the potty with you when you go out? I do this and ask if he needs to go once we arrive anywhere and he sits in the potty in the car. I do the same before we leave if it's a longish journey home.

You need to take him at the park whether he asks or not. You have years of insufficient notice to come
