When was your DC reliably dry during the day?

Just the title really.

DS(3.11) is potty trained but he has dry days and then days of accidents when he cant be bothered, too busy with lego or something. When he has an accident i just firmly tell him to make it next time no matter how busy ("toys will still be there waiting for you") no fuss or making big deal out of it (i find it tiring to remind him already!) he'll be starting school this September (with any luck hopefully get to go to school) I worry if he'll be reliably dry or is it something he will be at a later age?

So to get an idea, how was your little reliably dry??

Thanks

Two and a half ish I think. I’ve heard boys take longer though.
DD says that her teacher asks her if she needs the toilet regularly. I wouldn’t worry too much, once he sees his friends using the toilet he will follow suit. He still has quite a bit of time left before he starts school.

Thanks!

I suppose it'll click at some point and not huge thing to worry about! He goes to nursery and they he either tells them or they ask him. I didn't know at reception they'd help out.

Yesterday he's been dry, going himself etc. Today though, by 5pm he's fine then he lost it 🤭 ah well!

23 months for DD and 26 months for DS. Every child is different though so asking about other kids doesn’t help you! They do remind them to go to the toilet at school and they learn from each other so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. FTR my DS was not dry at night until age 7.

Three and a half. Suddenly got it.

Depends on which child. All very different. Please relax, they feed off it

All three of ours have been closer to 4 than 3!

No accidents now, all that worry for nothing!

Hang in there

Thanks a lot everyone! Very helpful!

I'm just trying to get an understanding on what to expect as every child in my mums group seems to be reliably dry so I wonder if i was supposed to be doing anything different(or maybe not doing enough) anyway i guess it is just a waiting game

He has a system where when he wants to go he goes and when theres an accident he is asked to put wet pants in laundry and get a fresh one from a basket near it.
