Is she ready?

Hi!

Been thinking of starting potty training with my 2.3 YO DD. She's showing lots of positive signs and nursery agree that she seems ready which is great.
She's great with poos and always tells me immediately when she's had one and is desperate to have nappy changed. What is worrying me a bit is that she doesn't seem to be bothered when she's wet and never tells me when she's had a wee. She doesn't seem to a huge amounts of time between wees either and it's rare that I check her nappy and it's totally dry.
Should I wait a bit longer? Her communication is excellent and she's speaking sentences, showing a interest in the potty and likes to sit on it but has never actually done anything on it. Not sure if I'm over thinking things or not!

People seem to have very different definitions of ready. Some seem to think of they don't train easily in a few days then they must not have been ready. Others expect it to take some time.

I think if she is able to tell you she's pooed then it's worth a try. Weeing with no nappy is a really different feeling and it can take a bit of time for them to learn when they need to go. I'd pick one training theory and stick with it as they are all different.

I’ve just trained my DD who is 2.3 and was the same as yours. It took 2 weeks for her to be reliably dry, and the first 3 days there were quite a few accidents but it literally then clicked and we are now on week 3 and have had no accidents at all. She’s also been dry for naps since day 2 and at night since day 15. Although she’s still been wearing a nappy at night the last couple of days it’s been a fight to get her to put it on so are going without a nappy tonight 😬

My DS is 2.9 and we've just started potty training in the last 3 weeks. He wasn't going for long periods between wees in his nappy but it was quick enough to train him to hold his wee for 20 minutes, then 30, then 40 with a timer. He's 3 weeks in now and he'll go when he wants now.

He's getting too cocky now though and holds on too long so I've got to try and back track him a little to go for a wee before he's desperate

It all sounds totally normal. I would read the oh crap book and follow that (except her crazy night training stuff).
