3 year old refusing to potty train

Hi all,.. My daughter turn 3 last month.. She refuse potty training. We tried potty and toilet seat. Bought her fav big girl pants, potty and everything.. She doesn't even show any readiness.. If she wants to wee or poo she wouldn't let us know and get annoyed with us when we say it's time to change nappy.. We have to take her to get the nappy change or she will happily stay in her soiled nappy. I keep the potty in front of her. Tried to get her to sit in the potty a couple of times and we sang songs, read books and had fun. But now she wouldn't even try sitting in it. I'm just getting more and more stressed now, am I doing something wrong? Should I force her to sit?

Have you tried the oh crap method where you keep her naked on the bottom half for a day or so, then in loose joggers for a day or so? She might be more motivated to hold it in if it would otherwise go down her legs and onto the floor.

I have this problem. We just about got the poo on the potty but he’s not interested in wees on the potty. I’ve tried every method going in the last 9 months. HV advice was not to make it in anyway stressful as he was fighting using the potty. They also said he probably isn’t yet ready and not to worry. Get back in touch in spring, he’ll be 3.9,I’d still not there.
Definitely ring your hv, there should be one who specialises in potty training and the advice and reassurance was great.

Aunty Jack: Thanks for your advise. I have tried it during summer a couple of months ago and she hated it.. She hates going naked or even half naked. She used to have nappy free time and she hates that too..now its winter she hates removing her clothes even more.. Its a war time now even for a nappy change.
