Hi my Ds has had an op and as a result is very Aware when he needs to go do has been using the potty which I was unprepared for.

Questions I have are, are you teaching them to pull pants up and down?

Are you teaching them to wipe there bum.

Do you use big loo? Is it worth getting a step?

My niece started potty training around that age - she used the potty at first, then started using either. She used to just 'perch' on the toilet to use it, which didn't seem to bother her at all, but meant she couldn't go independently, although to be honest at just 3 she doesn't take herself still. She uses the toilet 99.9% of the time now, the potty is only used if neither of the toilets are available.

We talked about wiping and she now tries, but we generally just wipe for her (trying a bit more now and she wants to anyway!). She pulled pants up at first and moved onto down later - she's pretty good now, but gets frustrated if the pants don't come down quickly enough, if that makes sense? She's been keen to try and dress/undress herself since before she was 2, so it's kind of been an extension of that really - she takes her clothes off now and mostly dresses (mostly help with leggings/tights/socks) by herself.

Not sure if her experience has been any help, just thought I'd put down how it panned out for her. Smile
