Can anyone recommend any tips and tricks on getting started with potty training your toddler? She is so fidgety every time I put her on the potty or the toilet that she always ends up getting down before doing anything and will not be put back on.

How old is she? My toddler does the same thing, I just encourage him to stay but don't force it, If she doesn't want to sit then she's probably not ready, I've been on and off with potty training since Ds2 turned 2 and he's now weeing on the toilet but only when her wants to (first thing in the morning, before bedtime)

Sorry I've not been much help but I actually hate potty training, absolute nightmare I reckon, but my son is hating wearing pull ups when they become wet or dirty, sorry again if I didn't help to much x

Have you read Oh Crap? The basic principles of that were extremely helpful for us. It has some suggestions for sitting still. Have you tried bribery with stickers? Don't forget to use 'when', not 'if' - when you do a wee on the potty, you get a sticker, not if you do a wee on the potty.

Potty training was crap but thanks to oh crap, we just went cold turkey, threw the nappies away (kept pull ups for night time and nap), and the worst was over and done with in a couple of weeks.
