DD holds poo for days on end

My 3yo DD was quite badly constipated about 9mths who and it's left her fearful of doing a poo.
She will hold for approx 5 days until such times as her stomach is cramping. Her stools aren't hard because she drinks lots of water plus we don't have any issue getting her to eat plenty fruit & veg. She's been to see a doc who agreed diet/hydration was fine but who gave us some movicol to get stools extra loose so she couldn't hold it.... but she can. What shifts the poo in the end is a glycerine suppository combined with a warm bath and lots of back rubbing. It can take 2/3 hours.
We've tried talking to her about how is she does a poo every day then it's easier as it's much smaller. We've tried reward charts. We've tried toilet time every day for a set amount of time to encourage her but no joy.
Any other suggestions to help her past this deliberate holding? Seeing such a calm & happy child in a state every 5 days (and it going on for hours) isn't good for her.
Potty trained for peeing absolutely no problem just before she turned 3.
Thanks in advance for any help

Straight bribery - fun-size chocolate bar for every poo. Make them smaller treats as she goes more frequently (down to a smartie) and then only give them if she asks for them and then eventually she'll forget about them

Not sure if I’ve much advice because we are in the same boat except not constipated.

My DS who is 3 withholds also for no reason other than he woke up one day and decided he doesn’t like pooing Anymore. First he would only poo in a nappy and not the toilet even though all wee’s are done there, then he wouldn’t even go in a nappy. He can/was holdIng for 3/4 days.

He is on movical and it was 1 sachet a day which kept the poo soft but he just wouldn’t let it out so I’ve upped it to 2 sachets a day which has made it looser but it makes him go As he can’t hold it as good.

It’s not diarrhoea And no control style though As he still gets the sensation he needs to go And still moans when he goes.

We’ve also been going over the top with praise and hi-fives which he loves. The bribery, rewards, explaining it to him, the Pooland app etc didn’t work for us but very slowly or at least the last few days he seems to be making progress and has been going regularly although we still use a nappy for poo’s. But if it works for now I’m happy to go with it.

Maybe give the movical another try with a larger dose over a few days and when she realises it doesn’t hurt anymore she may be more convinced.

Good luck

We had the same problem with my DS and now DD. With DS he was prescribed Movicol and we downloaded an app called Poo goes to Pooland which helped to get him to poo in the potty / toilet. Seemed so silly but it worked! May be worth a try.
