How do I do the food shop?! 😂

My 2.5yo has been doing all of her wees on the potty for a couple of days now. Sometimes she asks, sometimes I have to prompt her. But I've stopped putting her in nappies as she loves her big girl knickers and I think putting her back in a nappy will make her think she can just have a wee like she used to without the potty.
Basically, I need to do a food shop today and I don't know whether to leave her knickers on and potentially risk an accident in the middle of Tesco? Or put her nappy on and risk her going backwards? What does everyone else do? I'll try and get her to have a wee before we leave but I'm not sure if she'd definitely say she needed the toilet while we were out or not 🙈

Unless you are a single parent just wait until your partner gets home and shop later.

Or use pull ups/a spare nappy can put them over top of knickers so it doesn’t feel nappy-like but will catch any spillages!

Recently had this issue myself. Kept the knickers on but took potty and before went into the shop I sat her on the potty (in the boot of the car) works perfectly then again before we drove home. No accidents in shop
Good luck

No good for today, but I had terry toweling lined training pants for days like this. They are normal cloth pants, just with a thick enough lining to contain the worst of the accident. So if the child has an accident in the supermarket, they are wet, they feel wet, but the accident is broadly contained and not on the floor of Tesco; you'd still have to have a quick clean up and change if it happened though. I bought them quite a while a go, but I'm sure you can still get them somewhere.

Shop online?

eddiemairswife · 10/09/2020 11:30

Never bothered me. I'd put a nappy on them to go shopping.

Partner stays with child or online or click and collect. Definitely don’t put a nappy back on.

I got Bambino Mio potty training pants of amazon, there quite thick so holds accidents but still like knickers.

I use these for long car journeys (45mins) if she refuses to go to the loo before we leave.

I used to get mine to wee in the potty in the car park (estate car, sat on potty in boot, emptied potty down a grate) then again when we came out. Never had an accident in the supermarket. If you're getting the bus, perhaps let her do a wee in the supermarket toilets when you get there before you shop, and again after you've finished. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, we've just had an accident at home for the first time so not that confident about the supermarket 😂 but nappy over pants sounds like a good idea. I guess it's all trial and error 🤷🏼‍♀️
