Accidents at nursery

Our son is 2.5 and goes to nursery 5 days a week. During lockdown we attempted potty training but he wasn't ready so we left it. When he went back to nursery he started showing more interest so we took last week off work and nursery and gave it a go. He did really well apart from when distracted and we were happy to send him back to nursery today in pants plus joggers. I can see on the parent app that he's already had 2 accidents today. Nursery is different in that therecarent pottys dotted around the room they're in the separate nappy changing room and I suspect he's been too busy playing to notice he needs to go and he'll someone in time. Should we stick it out and let him get on with it and learn from the accidents for a bit or should we back track and pit him back in pull ups for nursery?

Have you discussed with nursery that he is in the early stages of potty training? What is their take on it?

I would stick with it, DS is a similar age and when he first started back at nursery after potty training started, he had a few accidents, and he's still having the odd accident when he is tired, and we're a few weeks on. He's getting better though, it's just a process of learning which takes time.

@katmarie yes my husband dropped him off today and he told them where he was at. I'm just wondering what they're doing with him to support it. I'll ask when we pick him up.

How did you get on at pick up? I’d stick it out, my DS had 2-3 accidents a day when he went back to nursery just from being distracted / building confidence to go / getting used to going somewhere new.

Good luck!

@PippaRose he ended up having 3 accidents on Monday but even more yesterday. We don't have a dryer and I had to go round to my sister's and use jwrs so he's have clean joggers for today. I'm thinking we'll maybe give it to the end of the week. I'm just sad because he was doing really well at home.

Ah hope he’s ok! Good luck with the next few days, either way he’s almost there

How did it go in the rest of the week? Interested as my LO is back to nursery next week after starting potty training this week and I just don't see how it's going to be possible! She can only go if there are no distractions.
