Hi, I know there are a billion posts about potty training but struggling to find exactly this question.
We are trying a method involving our 2yr2mo-old walking around with no nappy so he gets used to the feeling of peeing without a nappy and we slowly direct him to sit on a potty.
I'm not at all concerned by all the wiping up the floor and getting peed on (a lot in just 36 hours), but am concerned and unsure what to do about him seeming terrified when peeing without a nappy. We are encouraging him gently to let us sit him on potty every time but NOT forcing him to do anything, just not letting him cuddle up to us WHILE peeing since I think that closeness is mimicking the close/cloth feeling of the nappy. We are hugging him close and trying to comfort him (but with him facing out) and potentially both of us holding him even but he is still so scared, just when he's actually peeing. Doesn't like it going down his legs etc and think just the feeling scares him.
Any ideas/tips? Think he will get over the fear if we stick with it a couple more days? Also wondering whether we should give him trousers and see how he reacts to that feeling of getting wet without a nappy - maybe less frightening?
