Lots of little poops

Hi,

We have recently started potty training my 25 month old. He is generally doing pretty well - a few accidents here and there, but wees especially at home I think we are getting there with. Poops he had been waiting to have a night time nappy on for, but we have been having more success recently. This morning he did a lovely soft formed poop in the potty (things you never imagine yourself saying until you have a toddler...), but since then he has done about 4 other very little squishy poops. When he sits on the potty he goes red and strains and then announces with great pride he has done one of these. With nappies he usually did one or two a day, often massive and disgusting.

Has anybody else experienced anything like this? Will it settle down? Thanks!

Yes all 4 of mine had problems pooping on the potty. I found getting a toddler seat for the toilet and putting them on there helped.

They were happy to wee in the potty wherever it was but pooping in front of everyone was a big nope.

Mine has done one decent pooh, one near miss.. On the carpet just outside ofnpotty and two little tiny nuggets 😂. He's desperate to pooh on the potty, but 2 1/2 weeks in he's only had one success. I think I'm going to purchase a toilet seat as my friend also mentioned this. For my kid I think it's the position, rather than the poohing in public. He's not used to poohing sitting down.

Thank you. We had a massive poo in his nappy when he woke up this morning. I think sometimes when we're encouraging him to sit on the potty he's trying really hard to push something out when maybe he doesn't really need to. At least he's trying I suppose!

I think the fact that he wants to is definitely a bonus. I've read that it's normal for poohs to come a bit later. I'm hoping if we just go with it, it will come soon. It's probably a good idea to see potty training as two separate things- bladder training and bowel training
