How to start potty training DS?

Hello,

My DS turns 2 in a few weeks and we think we is ready for potty training.

When we ask if he's had a poop (when we know he has) he will tell us when we ask him and he keeps pulling at his nappy when it is very full.

Are these signs he is ready?

If so where do I start? What do I need?

It's my first baby so I have no idea where to begin

TIA! X

Following as in similar situation, so far when he looks like he's pooing we say do you want the potty. He always says no.

I started talking about training long before I tried it with DS. Bought the pirate Pete potty book.

I would keep the potty in the same room for a few days so they can get used to having it around, explain what it is, let them sit on it with nappy on, watch TV, read a book.

Then when you see them start a poo, pop them on. I waited until my son had started one and he was near the potty, so when he was sat on the potty he was already doing it, which took the pressure off asking, him denying he was doing it etc

After one poo on the potty, lots of praise, lots of explanation about this is how grown ups do it, he began using the toilet and haven't looked back. Already had the trainer seat and foot stool.

Still enjoys the novelty of flushing himself, washing and drying his hands

Recommend the oh crap! book and method, it worked very well with our eldest. Using it for our second at the moment Smile
