Running out of ideas.....is she doing it on purpose?

Hi parents, I have never posted before but am a regular reader. However have now run out of options. I have been potty training my (almost 3yr) daughter for 7 months now. She has the weeing sussed but just WILL NOT poo without a nappy on. I have researched loads and followed all the advice, but none of it seems to fit. We have tried rewards, overcoming fears, books, apps. She currently will sit on the toilet with a nappy on (with a huge hole cut into it), but will not take the nappy off! I am expecting no2 any day now and am desperate to get her moving along to the next stage. A friend of mine suggested she may be doing it deliberately for attention (she is a bright toddler!)
any suggestions welcome............

If your baby is due soon I’d be tempted to leave her to poo in the nappy for now. Give her chance to get used to the new baby and try again in 6 weeks or so. If covid restrictions have eased more other things in her life might be more normal by then too (assuming she has experienced some changes to routine).

I know you probably wanted it sorted before the new baby but if you’ve tried everything it’s unlikely to sort over the next couple of days. I don’t think this is particularly uncommon, I’ve known a few children that have disliked pooing outside of nappies and it seemed to be a sensory issue of them not liking the feeling of pooing without a nappy.

I’m never convinced by the ‘doing it for attention’ argument.

ERIC website handy.

They have deal with cases of children up to age nine years and trained for pee still needing to poo in a nappy.
