Help with potty training!!

Hi, we started potty training my daughter at round 2.5, she seemed keen and happy. One day I knew she was about to go in her pants and quickly set her on the potty and she did a wee and poo, she became really really upset and I comforted her. The next day her whole attitude towards the potty had changed and she was crying whilst wearing a nappy going to the toilet, the next day I phoned the doctors as I thought something was wrong. Turns out she had a urine infection. We completely stopped the potty training until she was better but she was now afraid of using the potty. We decided to forget about potty training for a while in the hopes she would forget. My daughter turned 3 last month and we have started again but she is completely terrified of using the potty, she wakes up and takes her nappy off and gets her own pants, wears pants all day but comes when she needs the potty asks for a nappy, goes away and then comes and asks to be changed when she is finished. Sitting on the potty for small amounts of time is ok too, however when she needs to go and I encourage her to use the potty she becomes very upset and will not go. We have tried everything, praise, books, stickers, stories etc. Is this normal? She's due to start nursery in September and won't be able to go if she's not potty trained and I would hate for her to miss out. Anybody any advice? Thanks

Have you considered ditching the potty and going straight for the toilet? My son has a toilet ladder/seat which allows him to climb straight on himself. The nursery will have little child size toilets and sinks so being able to use a proper toilet will be good for starting nursery too. We never potty trained, just started out with the toilet straight away.

Hi, yes we tried the big toilet too, we have a smaller seat that fits on top and a little step. We also tried without the smaller seat, both result in a major meltdown.
