How to go from being dry without pant(bare bottom) to pants?

Hi, my dd is 2 years and 7 months and we've started potty training given the fact we are constantly home at the moment and was showing signs of readiness.

If she goes without pants and is bare bum for the day she will be completely dry and do all wees on the potty (about 50/50 with poos) but as soon as I put pants on her she will be the opposite and have accidents every single time she needs to go for a wee. She doesn't want to wear nappies but I feel pants are giving her the sensation on wearing a nappy!

How do I go about putting pants on her and getting her dry when dressed?

TIA

Have you tried letting her choose some character pants and telling her she must be make Peppa pig/Disney Princess wet? She should be old enough to understand that. Also I would just persevere, maybe a few days with accidents but you know she's able to mentally know when she's gonna pee as she can do it when bare bummed.

My dd was a bit older but I found the pants part meant there was a much longer time between I need a wee and get on potty. Bare you can get on in 1 or 2 seconds but with pants you need to realise, say it, get to the potty, get someone to help get pants down and finally sit. Before I moved to pants on all the time we just had short bursts of practising pulling them up and down and sitting on the potty when she didn’t need to go.

Expect wet pants everytime for about three days. Then it starts to get better. The three day rule is usually how I managed to potty train.

Oh crap methods says no knickers or underpants for 6 weeks and just looser trousers like jogging bottoms. If naked is easier at home then it fine for them to be naked at home.

3 days no pants.
3 days just pants.
Then bottoms as well.

If not dry drop back down to dry level and carry on.

If it takes 6 weeks child is not ready for PT.

We did the Oh Crap method so went to just trousers for about a month before introducing pants.

Also agree with loose trousers.

My little girl (21 months) has been the same when we put leggings on her. So decided to keep her short-ish dresses and no knickers for a while until she gets the hang of it. It’s quite warm and we are at home anyways.

Will definitely not be trying knickers for a month or so.

We did potty training with our 2.3 year old when lockdown started - couldn't really be a better time. Definitely recommend a read of the Oh Crap method as previous posters have suggested. You can get it on Kindle. I would try 'commando' i.e clothes but no pants for a few days or longer if need be..fr us was a day or two but even a couple of weeks on our little one sometimes wants pants on and sometimes not! Good luck! Let us know how you get on.

Try trousers/leggings/shorts with no pants for a few days.
