Night time dryness

My son is still in pull ups at night, he's 5yrs 6months. He's never once been dry in the morning. He's been potty trained in the day time since about 3.5 but only recently started pooing on the toilet and not in his pull up. We've tried restricting fluids in the evenings but still soaking pull up in the morning. We've tried putting a potty in his room but he doesn't wake up. He sleeps 7pm-7am. Is this normal? I don't know when it's something to be worried about.

The general rule is GP won’t be interested until they are 7.
My ds is 6 yrs 10 months now and has only really been dry a few months and still has the odd wet now and again . I’ve never done anything to try and ‘make’ him dry at night , I believe it’s more to do with hormones and the body maturing when it is ready.

@Cupcakegirl13 yeah I thought they wouldn't be interested until he's a bit older. I know it's hormonal but everyone I know with children that age are dry at night and have been for a while, and my son frequently tells me he wants to be in pants at nighttime because he isn't a baby, yet I'm at a loss because I don't know what/if there is anything I can do to help :(

Ds is 5 and 3 months and is the same. I mentioned it to the GP and she says it is driven by hormones and not to worry until he's 7.

Frustrating but totally normal. My son became dry overnight aged 6yrs 11 months. Literally wet every night (pull ups) to dry 99% of the time, absolutely nothing to do with anything I did (think I tried everything). Try not to worry, he will get there

Please don't feel like your failing atm. My little had almost cracked nighttime dryness but with being at home it has completely stopped it. It might be it's not working because of all the upheaval and worry we are all feeling

We got my LO dry at night last summer/autumn at the age of 8, thanks to a bed wetting alarm. He'd been under the continence nursing service for a while and had been on desmopressin for about six months, which had some success but we were still having 3-4 wet nights per week. We tried an alarm and it worked very quickly and effectively, we ditched the alarm completely after 12 weeks and no problems since.

The thing with the alarm is that the child needs to motivated to try it, sounds like your LO might be. So layer up the mattress with alternate waterproof and regular sheets - that means that you only need strip off the top two layers during the night. You could try it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.

I've not even tried to see if he can do it as his nappy is so wet in the morning that I'd be changing my bed several times a night. He's a very active sleeper and can take up a king size by himself so there's no point putting mats down. GP said once he's had a dry nappy a few times to see how he goes.
