We tried for ages to potty train DS3 and resorted to bribery in the end of TV if he sits in front of the potty. Now it feels like a habit! Anyone else??

I'll hold my hands up and admit that this was a bad habit we unintentionally got into with DD1 (she definitely had the PFB treatment at times Blush).

It ended for her very abruptly one day, as while I was carrying the contents of the fully successful potty trip from the living room to the bathroom I slipped and.........

That was the last time we had THAT nonsense happening.

So don't sweat it, it'll stop at some point; either just naturally, or maybe you'll come to a messy end one day like I did Grin

My childminder had3 under two’s and did potty training in front of the tv to get them started. We continued this for a short while until my son “got it” then we moved to big boy pants and the toilet like daddy. He is 34 now and hasn’t poo’d in front of the tv for 32 years

Ok I don't feel so bad now, I think we will just take it one step at a time and eventually we will get there! Thank you x

Top tip for parenting- will they still be doing it when they are 15? If yes then sort it out when they are little, if no, or very unlikely then don't worry about it.

Yes, it was not the high point of my parenting experiences, trust me! Confused

This made me laugh and reminded me of DD sat on her potty flipping through a big pile of Parenting magazines. She used to like looking at the babies in them. She didn’t want to use it unless she had her magazines 🙈. She’s 34 with 2 DC now and reads in the bath but not in the toilet .
