Help! I didn't think DS was quite ready for potty training but nursery were quite insistent so they started training him

Two weeks later and now he just holds his wees in! He hasn't had a wee since 9am and I'm worried he will get a uti or something

We put him on the potty every two hours, and he will sit there but he will say that nothing is coming out

Has anyone overcome this? Do they just grow out of it?

First of all as someone who works in a nursery I’m quite concerned that they are forcing u go do something you not comfortable with. We had the opposite with our son he was getting dry at hone but wetting himself at nursery and they were insistent we sent him in nappies. We complained and just sent in loads of spare clothes and he soon got the hang of it. No nursery has the right to override your decision as a parent. Forcing a child to do anything before they are ready can be very detrimental and we still have three year olds in nappies at our nursery. Have u tried talking to them about your concerns? His key worker Is probably the best person to speak to. As for potty training we used stickers reward charts. Try to find out what it is that upsets him about going to the potty maybe he’s scared of something. The main thing is not to worry or get stressed over it because your child will pick up on this and think it’s something to fear.
Good luck Smile
