Argh Wise mumsnetters please help m. I’ve a just-2yo (2 last week) and an 8mo and wasn’t expecting to have to deal with this quite yet.

2yo has started saying nappies are for babies and this eve whilst bath was running she started pulling her nappy off looking hassled and said “potty potty” (we have a potty in bathroom as someone gave us one and had nowhere else to put it). I put her on it and she did a wee. She goes to childminder 2 days per week and a nearly 3 yo is potty training so she’s obviously been watching, plus likes to differentiate between herself (a big girl) and her sister (a baby). She’s pretty independent and insists on putter her own coat and shoes on etc. She has told me when she’s done a poo recently, but not when she’s about to do one (and when she’s busy I don’t think she cares to notice). Is she ready, should I encourage ? Was kind of hoping to wait till summer but if she’s readying now I’ll go for it.

Also, how the hell do I cope with an 8mo and a potty training 2yo?

Could it be possible that she is gradually readying and I don’t need to worry quite yet ?

Thanks all !!!

Gosh, if she told you she doesn't want to wear a nappy, took it off and did a wee in the potty with no bribery or anything then I'd go with it!! My youngest took his nappy off at 2 and stood at the loo and put his little Winkie over the edge and did a wee like his older brothers did and that was that, didn't have to do anything else! Sounds great to me!

Thank you @BigusBumus ... hmmm, she was really happy when she did a wee and poured it into the loo. Then ordered me to do a wee as well Grin I’m going to have to do my research. It’s something I’ve been dreading !

Blimey she is on it!!

I'd go with it and follow her lead. Have you got any pants? You could get her some for Christmas. It's much easier having them not in nappies once they are reliable. Much cheaper too!

If you want training advice and a method the "oh crap" book is good.

Put her in pants and see how she gets on.

Read the oh crap book. My DD was more than ready that day.

Will get her some pants and look at the Oh Crap book , thanks everyone !! X

@Mamasaurous I realise this is a while ago now for you but interested to see how you got on? How long roughly was it before your dad was out of nappies in day?
