DS (2 yr 8 months) is ready for night time potty training. He currently still sleeps in his cot bed (which is in 2nd floor), so I'm thinking to let him sleep in a proper children bed instead, so he can learn to go to potty by himself at night. But I was also told to install a gate in his room so he also learns to stay in his room during bed time. But that would mean I'll have to leave a potty inside his room for night time. Do you do that? I just feel uncertain how that works. I have been teaching him to empty the potty, flush toilets and wash hands. Does it mean I need to tell him not to do such things during night time? He easily got frustrated when his routine is broken, so I'm not sure how to handle if he tries to empty his potty to toilet while he is locked inside the gate. I am all so confused.
I was told to delay night time potty training for now. And work on making sure he stays in his room during bedtime first. Then, my problem is, he sometimes woke after midnight and asked for potty. I couldn't ignore him and I couldn't bring myself to tell him to wee on his nappy, as I think it is a confusing message to him, so I'll get up and bring him to potty. If I'm lucky, he will go back to sleep after that, but if it happens like 4:30am or after, he is up for the day, and no sleep for everyone from that point onward.
Any advice?
