Absolutely stinking horrid pees!

My 2 year and 3 month old has this week woken up with the stinkiest wet nappies she’s ever had. They smell absolutely revolting, like week old pee is the only way I can describe it. We are having to shower her in the morning and wash all bedding every day, and air her room out.

Nothing about what she is eating or drinking has changed, same nappy brand being used throughout, we obviously took her to the doctors in case of a UTI and that’s come back normal. We have been potty training for about a month with lots of success with the wees and a few issues with the poos.

I don’t want to sound like a ridiculous worried mum posting about morning pee smelling because I know it does, however this is new for her and it is so pungent and come on out of nowhere this last week. We are filling her with fluids more so than normal and all her pees in her potty in the day smell fine, it’s just the morning one. Anyone come across this before with their own little ones?

are they a different type of nappy?

Onynx · 08/09/2019 07:36

Is she drinking enough water?

Thatsnotmyname4291 · 08/09/2019 07:40

Dodgy batch of nappies? Try another bag and see if the smell is as bad?

cosymama · 08/09/2019 07:48

Thanks guys, changes nappy types across the week and they are still stinking.
Dehydration wise, she's so full of water! She's a good drinker anyway but we've been ON. IT. all week, especially before bed and they are still smelly! It's so weird!

Nothing helpful to say here really, but we are having the EXACT same issue with our 3, nearly 4 year old. I've taken her to Drs as was worried about infection but tested clear. I'm not sure whether to be worried or not but I'm getting paranoid that she's going off to nursery smelling of wee.

EleanorReally · 08/09/2019 07:55

it is probably just because the wee has been sitting in the nappy for a while

CharlieandLolaCat · 08/09/2019 07:57

Kidney infection? I'd get it checked if it continues.

mememe2019 · 08/09/2019 07:58

Do other people smell as well it or is it you? Could you be hypersensitive go smells eg pregnant?

cosymama · 08/09/2019 08:05

My husband can smell it too, they are so pungent l can't even tell you! Going to ring the doctors tomorrow and see what they tested for, she is seemingly completely healthy and eating, playing, drinking etc. So it's really odd and making me worry there is something underlying going on Sad

is it only the nappy that smells bad?
how about her first wee of the day in the potty?

CharlieandLolaCat · 08/09/2019 08:29

Sorry just seen you checked for UTI ... Blush

cosymama · 08/09/2019 08:32

Just the first nappy! The one that she fills overnight/early morning. Rest of the days wees smell fine.

EleanorReally · 08/09/2019 08:41

it all sounds normal tbh, she will start to use her potty at night at some point though
