Been potty training for just over 3 weeks. DS is 2 and a half and definitely seemed ready, even his childminder told us it was the right time.

Problem is he seems to have loads of accidents. Every single poo is either in his pants or a pull up. He’s only ever done 2 poos on the toilet and that was the first 2 days. He also normally has at least one wet accident a day, today he hasn’t used the toilet at all, and he’s on his 4 outfit change and I’ve put him in a pull up. He seems to be getting more and more frequent that he just has days where he can’t be bothered or doesn’t want to.

Problem is he uses pull ups like a nappy and just wees and poos in them however he feels like so I’ve been trying to avoid using those. There has been a lot going on in his little life though things are calming down and I know he can do it as he has days where he’s great.

Should I just give up, go back to nappies and try again in a month or do I continue and hope he improves?

When we trained our son we didn't use any nappies at all, he was naked for first phase as it was purely just to get him used to using the potty and you knowing his cues to help show him where his wees and poos go.

We used the book "oh crap" which I couldn't recommend highly enough.
