Hi I'm in need of some quality MN advice on what to do now!

We are trying to potty train DS who is 3 years 9 months. Started over the Easter break when we were all at home, had some success with the peeing a few poo accidents and then nothing..no poos...for 5 days...so after reading advice on ERIC re withholding and the dangers of constipation I put him back in pull ups and left it for two weeks. Everything went back to normal.

We are now on attempt two and same pattern has emerged except peeing has been worse with no pees at all on the potty at nursery (he's there 4 morning a week). So he's been 6 days without a poo is clearly needing and is back in pull ups. I went to the chemist this morning and got some lactulose which I'm hoping might help??

Advice from Health Visitor, Early years worker and nursery is all to keep going but what am I supposed to do now, how do we proceed. He has to poo. Any advice gratefully received!

In my experience, when kids are ready, they crack it in about 2 days

Maybe he’s not ready then? I get the impression it’s not that straight forward for everyone though..
