Started potty training my son who is very bright and has excellent language skills
He was two in feb. today was only day 1, so obviously I had no expectations but he hasn't managed even one pee on the potty yet.
I'm starting to recognize the signed of him needing but he'll sit on the potty then walk away and pee on the floor.

I kinda of think one he's done it once it'll click quite quickly but any experience of how log it took to get that first pee in the potty?

Does HE show any sign of knowing when he needs it? Otherwise its just a case of doing it regularly until some of the pee hits the potty and then hope it clicks

Ds,never like the potty so he went straight to a stool and standing and peeing.

If he was only 2 in Feb he's probably a bit young still.

Thanks for replies. Just wondered what others experience was of how long it took their boys to do it the first time. Is it reasonable to take a few days of accidents before he even does it just the first time

He does understand when he needs to do something. I think maybe he just hasn't worked out how to start and stop himself and that's the bit he needs to learn

My daughter was much younger than he is now , all kids are different. Might be too early for him but surely the only way to know, is to try?

My son hurled an empty potty around the room for at least a week before going near it. He was 2.5yrs. He’s fine now at 3 but it was very slow progress for a couple of months and many accidents. My daughter took 24hrs max no accidents at age 2.0!

I'd give it 3 days and see where. He is. No harm in trying and coming back to it in a few monthd

My DS is a month older than yours and we've just started too. We're using Oh Crap which we also used with DD when she was 22mo. DS is holding it for a long time as well so we're not getting as many wees as I remember with DD but he's got much more of an idea than she has. He's done 2 in the potty and 2 started and then finished on the potty. I think anything goes on day 1, you're just looking for progress from them being completely clueless.
