Ds can only use the potty on time without trousers on?!

Tearing my hair out.
Ds is 2.6, we tried potty training a few months ago and he got the hang of it when naked but we stopped after a bout of allergy related diarrhoea...

Started again yesterday on ds insistence (no nappies!!) And once again, if he's naked on the bottom he will take himself to the potty for wees and poos happily. As soon as he had any sort of trousers on he wets them.

I can see progress because this time he will tell us "I need the toilet!" But it's after he's already had an accident... Last time he seemed unaware of having wet himself.

Any idea how long it might take? Any suggestion of trying to use the potty and he says no, sometimes if I sit him he will go, sometimes not... 😵

I'd wait a few more months and try again. He's obviously not ready yet. I waited until my DC were almost 3 and both got the hang of it within a week.

Boys in my experience have weaker bladders, when they gotta go it is almost an instant thing. You could start timing when he pees to get an idea of how often he needs to go. Orange juice meant I once had to take him to the loo five times during a movie at the cinema.

It's because psychologically pants and clothes feel like he's wearing a nappy. Try very loose fitting joggers with no underpants underneath. If that doesn't work just do bare bum at home for now, but keep taking him to the toilet regularly when out. Don't ask, just take.
