Hi. I have a 2year old son (2 and a half on boxing day) and im trying 2 potty train him but feel like im getting nowhere. Ive got a potty and also a seat 4 the toilet but hes just not interested, if anything he screams/tantrums when I try him on either? Ive bought him some pants 2 wear in the house instead of nappies as my friend suggested if he wees, he will be wet but it doesnt seem 2 bother him, also he can go hours dry without weeing, same happens if I dont put pants on. He doesnt tell me that he needs 2 go, although ive asked him continuously 2 tell me if he needs 2 go? Has anyone got any suggestions 2 save my will 2 live, also my carpet? Thanks.

To bn honest, if he's not really ready yet, I'd wait a bit until you think he's more cooperative.

When you do actually potty train though, I'd say the key is to be really consistent and really positive.
I set up a reward chart for mine and explained that every time they used the potty they'd get a sticker. 10 stickers meant a reward (we agreed on this at the start).
Once I started, I didn't use nappies at all, as I think this gets confusing. I just put them in pants and watched carefully! If they showed signs of needing a wee I encouraged them to use the potty. Even if they wet themselves a bit, as long as some went on the potty I still praised them and gave them the sticker.

Hes managed a handful of times 2 wee on the potty and I think once or twice a poo and I praised him like there was no tomorrow, so proud but now nothing. Hes constantly weeing/pooing on the floors, (when he doesnt go hours) sometimes even playing in it if its being in a different room 2 me. I know they all do it in there own time but its getting frustrating now, especially as I want 2 try and get him out of nappies before he starts nursery in september. Its a little hard 2 not use nappies also as I have school runs 2 do with my eldest daughter and also night times. Hes shown signs like grabbing himself and ive asked him if he needs a wee but he says no, I then try him on his potty/toilet with nothing but kick offs. I take him off and a few times hes had a wee about 5mins after. Ill try the stickers as I dont think he will fully understand the concept of a chart/reward yet but slowly will introduce it 2 him.
