DS is 2 1/4 and potty training is going pretty well. I'm just wondering when to take the next step from using the potty and move to using the toilet, and kit do I or don't I need to do so?

I will get a little toilet step, but am wondering about a toddler toilet seat.

When we are out of the house, DS will do a wee on a full size toilet but he seems really precarious perched on it and needs me to hold him steady. Is it worth getting a toilet seat insert for the toilet at home or should he keep using the potty until he is big enough to manage on the regular toilet seat? If you did get a toilet seat adaptor, did you have one with integral steps, or a separate toddler seat, or a fitted seat? Too much choice!

My two had a smaller padded seat that went on top of the toilet seat and a little step stool for their feet. Neither of them would use a potty, so we didn't really bother with one.

Get DS to wee standing up; put a ping pong ball in the loo for him to aim at.

We changed our seat for one of the ones with a detachable toddler seat, DD4 still uses it at home even though she can use a big seat comfortably elsewhere. I would recommend.
