Currently having a bit of a stand off with my nearly 3 year old. She needs to poo but as usual is refusing to go on the potty with the result that she is having little accident every 5 minutes this morning and is clearly uncomfortable.

Was planning on swimming this morning but clearly that’s a no go. She’s currently naked after going through about 6 pairs of pants, i’ve encouraged, cajoled, bribed, tried the toilet seat, but no luck.

She’s not scared of the potty as she’s reliably dry for wees but we’re hit such a block here, anyone worked through it? She’ll sit on potty on demand but still hold her poo in.

This is a very very common problem (right into school age) and the advice is basically to let her have a nappy to poo, but have her go to the toilet to use it, then have her wipe (over the nappy), flush and wash her hands as you would normally, and change her after.

Then take very small steps over a few months and have her sit on the toilet in a nappy, then cut a small hole in the nappy, then make it a bit bigger until shes pooing in the toilet.
Then put a nappy in the toilet instead of on her...

Then you are done.

Don't rush it, her pooing, even in a nappy is far better than her holding it and becoming impacted, very small steps.
