Vibrating watches

My just 3 year old is going to my school nursery in 2 weeks. He toilet trained quite easily at 2.5 but over the last couple of months has gone backwards. I took him to the GP who said we needed to start again with the toilet training which we did with a degree of success. He's now mainly dry again but if engrossed in something will forget so I have to remind him to go several times a day. He would his pants more often than going in the toilet. He has always had get loose lips and I think toddler diarrhoea but the GP has always dismissed that. Thankfully pooing usually happens outside of school hours. The lovely nursery teacher emphasised that all children should be toilet trained. I feel more stress as I am one of the senior teachers in the school. So my question is - has anybody tried vibrating wristwatches to remind children to go? Were they successful? I am also wondering about getting him incontinence pants. Any thoughts.
In every other way he is a bright, sociable 3 year old whom I have no concerns about.
