Almost 3 year old potty training need some advice

Hi my DD will be 3 in October. She uses the potty on and off but eventually asks for her nappy back on. She will sit on the potty for ages but won't go and play without a nappy on. I've tried putting underwear on her but she will just pee in the underwear. Should I persevere and just say no nappy at all in the house? Will she just get used to no nappy? She has in a way been easier than my eldest who would have a tantrum and panic with no nappy on and was over 3 when I had to basically force her but my youngest will just go in the underwear. I think she is ready but should I just do it slowly over say a week and have her bare for a few hours a day and then just nappies for outside? Or go for it and from getting up in the morning no nappies at all unless going out? I don't want to push her too hard because of what happened with my eldest but I do think she is ready.

Knickers on all day, but nappy for bed. Putting one on to go out will just confuse the issue.

Ditch the potty, get a seat for the toilet and a step so she is doing what you are doing. Make a chart for rewarding toilet use, small treat every 5 successful trips or whatever, and she should crack it in no time.

They do folding travel seats which are great for out and about. I'll link something.

I think you should just go cold turkey. If you've made a decision to potty train then she doesn't need nappies at all during the day, not even for trips out, just for naps and bedtime. Keep some in the bedroom and make it clear that nappies are no longer an option during the day.

And this for when you go out

Thanks for the advice ☺️ from today then I'll do no nappies the only thing is what do I do for now in the car? If she wets herself it'll go all over her seat. Can you get pads for them?

I just line the car seat or buggy with a binliner and a towel but I've heard of people using disposable puppy pads too.

Spend a day or two at home with no bottoms on then go for loose joggers/skirt/dress but no underwear for a couple of weeks so that she loses the connection between the tight feeling of a nappy (the underwear) and weeing.

'Oh Crap' is a good book if you can give it a read.

Are you absolutely sure she's ready? In your post you seem to be focusing on the age of three as some sort of deadline. We waited until my son was ready which happened to be 3 years 8 months and he was dry and clean in 6 days. One day without pants or bottoms, then into knickers and joggers. Was remarkably straightforward and I think that's purely down to waiting.
Also, just another opinion on seats etc, my son is short for his age so a seat and step was not right for him straightaway. He had a largish potty which he liked and a potette for emergencies while out (otherwise we'd use a standard loo but would have to hold him to stop him falling in).
