Dry at night- ready to train during the day?

DS has just turned two so I wasn't thinking of trying potty training for a little while yet, but for the past week he has been consistently dry at night. Is it worth giving it a shot to train during the day?

I have been doing 'potty acclimatisation' since the beginning of the summer in that he will now quite happily sit on the potty for a wee just before bath time each night. Also in the hot weather I had him running around outside with no clothes on and for the first half an hour or so he would think to use the potty but after that would just forget.

I think he is aware of when he is doing something in his nappy but as he hates having his nappy change he won't say he is!

Is it worth me trying to train him now or should I wait for a bit longer? I'm not in any particular hurry but I know he would be happy not to have to suffer nappy changes any more.
