Potty vs toilet training for 2.5yo dd?

We’re planning to start next weekend, so I’m getting everything prepped. I had planned to go for potty training (and have had 2 failed attempts over the last 6 months).

But my childminder has advised skipping the potty and just going straight for toilet training.

Any thoughts on pros and cons of each?

Childminder says easier to just do it all in one go rather than having to deal with a transition to toilet later. And we do have a downstairs loo so could be doable.

But it just seems easier and more manageable to start with the potty??

The main problem we had with dd before was actually getting her to sit on the potty at all. No idea if she’d be more or less likely to sit on the toilet Confused

As long as you have all you need she can go to the toilet right away, stool and seat (some kids are afraid of the flush, others like it ) beware of the full roll of toilet paper in your toilet.
Thumbs up !!!

I think we did a bit of a combination. So potty was always available and used in the garden etc. garden, but the toilet was always ready with the seat & stool.
We'd use whichever was most convenient.

I didn't realise they were 2 different stages tbh Grin

We had a right song and dance over the right seat for the toilet. Our eldest wouldn't sit on anything, nor would she sit on the potty. She just cried. I kept thinking she wasn't ready so put it off. Tried a padded one and she was sorted in 4 days. So maybe arm yourself with a couple of different seats because some kids are fussy!

Ok, sounds like I should get a seat to have in hand as well as the potties.
Wish me luck!
