3.2 yo DD, do I persevere or wait??

Hi needing some advice with my DD who has previously expressed no desire at all to get rid of her nappies. Today I decided to try her nappy free.

Twice she shouted me as she's was weeing on the floor, the 3rd time it was clear she needed to go, she would sit on the potty but do nothing.

I waited for a while and it got to a stage she was holding herself really trying to stop herself, she started leaking so I quickly put her on her potty, she was very upset but eventually came round and was happy although asked for a nappy for a poo, i did because she has issues with constipation so not sure where to go from here, any tips or do I persevere?

Thanks!Smile

I’d persevere if I were you OP, you’re only on day 1 and it does take a few days for them to get the hang of it.

Keep going. Keep reminding her. Don't rely on her telling you in the first few days. The first week or so can be hard going. Both my two had lots of accidents. But keep going. By about a week they do get it and the accidents become fewer.

Cold turkey is the best way to go, no nappies just pants. Make a big fuss about her lovely big girl pants. Then watch the clock like a hawk and sit her on regularly, employing bribery if necessary! There will be quite a few accidents in the first week or so, don’t let it put you off.
Good luck!

Missy has it spot on. No going back. Put the potty in the tub if necessary. Run the water or have 1/2 inch for her to kick about with as she waits to pee.
Don’t do a poo nappy.
You can do this 😉

So she's had a poo in her potty! I don't know if it was intentional or purely because she was sat on it but il take that as progress Smile Although she hasn't wee'd since 3.30 and drank plenty, she keeps saying it's coming out but nothing? Hmm.

I'd persevere for a few days. I just went cold turkey and stayed in for a few days.

If there's no progress at all after a few days and she's getting upset, then I'd possibly wait a few more weeks.

Ok so today she's been holding it in again although clearly needs to go, she asked for pants so I put them on, a minute later started weeing in them, tried sitting her on potty but she stiffened herself and refused. Eugh so now what?? She can clearly hold it in when she wants to and let's go. I'm tempted to leave her in pants because with nothing on was clearly not working, thoughts? Thanks
