So I didn’t wait for all the signs before we started training - my LO has delayed expressive language amongst other quirks and so I wasn’t expecting him to be able to tell me eloquently that he needed a wee. He also has never been bothered about walking around with a wet or dirty nappy. BUT, school nursery is fast approaching and so we thought we’d just dip our toe in to see what would happen.

I thought he was doing really well - only a few accidents when distracted but still very much relying on me to prompt him if he needs to go, he’s better with telling me than his childminder who says she has to prompt him every time. Anyways, today he has done several poos in his pants (and not been bothered) and I’m wondering if I should just go back to nappies?

Any ideas on how to encourage him to tell us he needs the loo? Maybe he just doesn’t know all the time?

I’m so disheartened - nothing has been easy for him. I find myself so envious of parents with kids who just do this developing stuff without difficulty or delay!
