Straw poll: carry on or pack it in?

DS is 2 and we’ve been following the Oh Crap method this week. He did great the first couple of days but now is getting pretty stressed by it all and holding wee (boy can he hold it!)
I don’t want to stress him out so this evening asked if he wanted to wear a nappy again and that prompted further tears and “no!”s.
I don’t mind dealing with accidents at all but I don’t want him getting anxious or upset over this.
Thoughts on stopping/carrying on?!
DD was so easy and did it all pretty much by herself!

Carry on but back off. Not sure how you're doing it but remember no questions so phrase everything as a statement: 'I can see you need to wee. The potty is there when you need it' and then walk away.

You need to take the pressure off, even if it doesn't feel like you're putting any on! There may be a few more accidents, he might rise to it, but he's said no to nappies and he's started well so I wouldn't say disaster yet. Give it a couple more days and see how you feel by the weekend?

I use cloth so no pull ups.

teaandbiscuits I am probably inadvertently putting pressure. I just bring the potty in the room and say “the potty is there when you need it.” First couple of days he would go for it but today he pretty much held all day til bath time.

I guess I’ll give him the option of nappy again in the morning and give it a couple more days if he says no - next real window of opportunity is summer hols so quite far off!

How about "let's both have a wee before lunch. Who can do the biggest wee?" Sounds like he's got the hang of it a bit, but just needs a bit of incentive. Don't worry if he goes back to nappies for a while though.
