My son is 3 yrs and 3.5 months and we are having another go at potty training. He is showing lots of the normal signs and loves to pretend to use the loo etc.
The issue is in real life with no nappy, he’s very scared. He detests the potty and although I get him on the toilet in a special seat, he seems pretty unhappy for most of the time.
We’ve had some wees in the toilet and some accidents too. I’m not worried in the slightest about accidents or how long it takes. I’m more worried about how unhappy he is.
As an aside he is still on laxatives as he had a real issue with holding his poo (over a week at a time at its worst) so I know it’s an area he’s sensitive in.
Part of me wonders whether he’s still not ready. But given his age and that he’s had other problems, I wonder whether it’s just a case for persevering and letting his confidence grow.
