My little one is 2yrs 3 months. The health visitor said to wait to potty train him until he tells me he has gone for a wee or poo in his nappy. He takes off his nappy whenever he gets the chance and tells me when nappy free that he has gone and takes me to where it is. Also when I ask him where we go to wee and poo he points to the potty. But he won't sit on the toilet/potty for more than 5 seconds before he asks to get up, he doesn't attempt to go to the potty when he needs to go and he won't tell me when he has gone in his nappy (though not convinced he ever would as he hates having his nappy changed)

Does he sound ready or should I leave it a bit? I don't want to go back and forth with it and confuse things.

Best advice I ever got from a friend was to wait til they want to do it. I caved to the pressure once and it just ended with lots of accidents. Left it til both of mine suddenly said they wanted to wear pants - done in a couple of days with minimal accidents. Potty training doesn't have to be hard work! Both were nearly 3 before being interested btw

Lots of signs that he's ready for you to teach him. I'd recommend reading the Oh Crap book for a plan.
