Movicol and potty training

Has anyone had any success with potty training while their child is taking Movical?

I won’t be potty training anytime soon as I’d like to wean my son off this stuff first but unless he takes a sachet a day, he withholds and becomes constipated. We’ve tried increasing fluid, prune juice, pear juice, probiotics, extra fibre etc but not much has helped. I guess I’m looking for some success stories as I feel we’ve got a long journey ahead of us. Doctor is of no help either. Thanks. Xx

A friend of mine has done it with her daughter - the one sachet a day actually helped her to go regularly. Before the movicol, she was withholding and then having accidents. The regularity has helped!

Hiya!
Some children need to stay on Movicol for years. I wouldn't stop.
My nephew, now 6, has been taking it for 2 years. If he doesn't use it, he gets constipated and then there is overflow and he soils himself. You can imagine it creates all sorts of social issues at school. But with Movicol, he's fine. His bowel movements are soft and regular. Smile
