Nearly 3 year old won't poo on potty

DD will be 3 in a month. She'll be starting preschool in April so really want to get her potty trained by then. We've had a potty around for months and she is quite happy to wee in the potty. However she has never done a poo in the potty, and now that we have decided to go full pelt with the potty training she refuses to do a poo in the potty, gets very upset, screams, has tantrum and only want's to do it in a nappy. It's probably our fault that we didn't start properly potty training months ago when she first started weeing in it. I guess our approach was too relaxed (2nd time parents and knackered - but no excuse). I don't know what the preschools policy is with toilet training, but it is a preschool rather than a nursery so I feel that they will be expected to toilet themselves. We've tried rewards and she knows she'll get a chocolate treat if she does it but doesn't seem to make a difference. It's got to the point now that she seems to be holding in her poo and now hasn't done a poo for a couple of days which is obviously quite worrying. Just don't know how to get round this. Help please!

Don't stress you still have plenty of time. MY DS wouldn't poo in potty either and would just disappear in to a corner somewhere and poo his pants. I never did the trainer pants as I feel they are counterproductive. . Just bought a load of very cheap underpants and threw them in the bin if he soiled them. If your DD won't use a potty get one of those seats that fits on your toilet seat and a little step from IKEA. My DS got the message eventually. If she's constipated, give her some orange juice or prune juice that should do the trick and hopefully have her running for the toilet.
