Can I just recommended this book? My nearly 4 yo DS was a lost cause, hysterical at the thought of no nappy.
Read this book, and here on day 3 we've had 2 dry nights and all wees and poos on the potty!!!

Worked for us too! Used it with DD2 at 22 months and it took 48 painless hours (after finding it really stressful to train DD1).

I'm going to tackle DD2 once DS has been ok for a month, I'm excited 😂🙈

I love this book too, always recommend it! It's fantastic that you're making such good progress with your DS!

Sorry, clearly a bit thick, what is the book, I'm a bit desperate, DD1 who was 3 in October has never once told me when she needs to go. She'll use the potty just fine but only ever if I put her on it.

Nicae It's called 'Oh Crap potty training manual' (or something to that effect). You can download it in various forms or get a print copy on amazon etc.

Being able to say they need to wee is not one of the signs of readiness for this author so I'd say get the book and give it a go!

Definitely get it PP, it's fab.
DS never told me he needed to go, he still doesn't in fact, but takes himself off to the potty alone. 3rd dry night now, and progressed to trousers with no underpants

Ds is 3.1 and we have just started training (3rd attempt but 1st "proper" one). Older than this book recommends but he's v stubborn (familial trait, ) and he point blank refused previously.
Is the book worth it for an older child? I tried downloading it the other night but seemed to come across some dodgy looking websites...

Another I'd always say it's worth a read (it's short don't worry!). There's a chapter about training slightly older children or those who've tried training before so it should have some good tips. I'm sure the op said her DS was 4?

My DS is 4 next week! I was despairing but we have cracked it so painlessly.
There's a chapter about kids over 36 months, hey need some special firm guidance and I'm a softy!

DS is 4 wees fine and is dry through the night has been for about a year. But we struggle with withholding poos. Do you think it will help with this?

Do you put a nappy on for pooing?

No we have been using pant liners and are trying to catch him and get him to sit on a potty toliet.
Sometimes use pull ups but he can get lazy with wee then.

He is also on movicol hoping to get it sorted for he starts school.

Have just started to take toys away if he doesn't sit on potty/toliet. This seems to be working a bit at the moment

I think i will get this for my 2yr old. My 4.5yr old is still a bit of a nightmare, constantly has wet patches in his pants, and will poo a bit in his pants its driving me mad!
I really dont want it to go like this with my youngest. He knows wee and poo go in the toilet, and if i ask him to sit on the potty or the toilet he says toilet, but when i try and sit him on the toilet he starts crying saying no no
