DS turned 3 a week ago and has shown zero interest in potty training. Well, he showed a brief interest when he was 2.5 but I was heavily pregnant and as he wasn't showing what I'd consider were enough signs, I thought best to leave it. But now we're here and he's reverted back to not even telling us when he's done a poo.
So I bought the book and all I've absorbed so far is how difficult it is to potty train after 36 months and how I'm basically a bad parent for leaving it so long. I'm sure the method works great but I feel even more disheartened after reading it than I was before...😔

I think she really overdoes the "terrible parent, start saving for therapy" aspect. She's clearly a believer in her method and her favoured/stipulated age-range, but you are where you are and there's no point beating yourself up about it now. You can't go back in time. If you're to try it then just get on in as non-confrontational a way as possible. If you go into it thinking that you've broken your child and made life awful for all of you then that is what will transpire.

COI: ds1 was late training and we've had a hard time of things. I say this not to make you more despondent but to reassure you that when I read this book I felt just as shit as you are feeling. Good luck
