Tips for pooing on the potty

My 2.5 year old son will only poo in his pants, I have tried everything bribery wise sweets, stickers, marble jar and iPad time. He is completely dry just struggling with poo. He won't tell me why he doesn't want to. But as soon as he has done it he wants it gone and will happily help me flush it away and put his pants in the wash. I have tried getting him to sit for periods of time but I just can't seem to catch him at the right time.

Any tips or insight would be welcomed!!

How long has he been dry for? Both of mine were dry within a couple of days but did poo in their pants for a month. I think it's something to do with the sensation of doing it on the loo that they didn't like. They both just stopped by themselves after a month...

He has been dry for weeks, I am trying hard to stay positive when he does it and not get angry but it is getting harder and harder!
