What to expect the first 3 days ....

So I plan to stay in all over the weekend Fri, Sat & Sun.

What should I expect over the next few days.

We've bought pants, sticker chart, potty & toilet seat. Kissed goodbye to nappies today.

Am I ready? I'm dreading this .... but it's way over due.

Lots of accidents! For the first four days my son did way more on the floor/sofa/wherever than on the loo. After a week he'd cracked it (he's 3 years 4 months). Stick with it, be positive and encouraging (even when everything has wee on) and be prepared to do a lot of washing! Good luck 😊

Should I be encouraging him to get on the potty & toilet or leaving him to it in the hope he will ask?!? Or a bit of both

I'm afraid they need to wet themselves to work out what's going on. You'll need to encourage and lead, don't expect him to get on with it. Good luck!

Give it a good crack and if he's not ready, put it off for a bit longer. Dd3 turned 2 at the end of January and she developed a nasty uti, we were told we needed to collect a sample of her wee but she was still in nappies, we got some in the end after soooo much stressing from me. Then a couple of weeks ago she just randomly got the potty out and started using it without any effort on my part, she's just getting used to knickers now, to begin with she literally just ran around with her chubby bum out I honestly think she was just 'ready'

DD kicked off and shouted/cried/refused every time we asked her to try the potty. We despaired the first time, assumed she wasn't ready and left it a few months. When we regrouped and tried again when she turned 3 and she still got cross and upset but it felt like she got it a bit more.
We had about four accidents at home and then she used to have one every day at nursery even when dry at home b abuse nobody was helping her get her trousers down etc and she wasn't quick enough on her own. All sorted now and she's pretty reliable.

I would say let nothing phase you and if you feel they're ready then keep patience and persevere. Good luck! I dreaded it too.

He's 3.4 so I really need to crack on and persevere.

He will go back to nursery on Monday & I'll pack a few changes of clothes in case of accidents - I just hope they encourage him to go

Our issue was DD's keyworker going abroad just a few days after she was starting to get it. Without the 1:1 she normally gets, she was being left to her own devices too much and the other staff weren't aware she'd only just learnt I don't think. It was really frustrating. Had a quiet word with her keyworker when she came back and she hasn't had an accident since...

I found with all of mine that the first few days were great. No accidents until I thought they'd cracked it, then the novelty wore off and the accidents started. Dc3 has been out of nappies now for 2 weeks and is doing pretty well. If she has one accident she'll have more but is dry most days.
She doesn't really use the potty though, only if someone else is on the toilet. She's 2 and 3 months and is fine on the toilet with just a step to help her get on and off.
I had no choice but to get her out of nappies she's got a really round bum and they just don't fit her anymore.

I started training DD aged 2y 10m again on Saturday afternoon.
She was excited to have her paw Patrol knickers on! I left the potty in the corner of the room & kept telling her to let me know when she needed a wee. She kept sitting in the potty, but not doing anything.
She finally did a small wee after I asked her again for the 1000th time. Lots of praise & encouragement, she then wee'd on the settee when engrossed in something on the tablet.

Lots of repeating yourself & praise! She actually took herself off to have her first poo on the potty on Tuesday, but then pooped in her knickers yesterday & wee'd whilst she was eating her dinner. I think she sometimes struggles to multi task! She'll get there eventually.
